Sooke Montessori – January 2012

September – December

We have had a wonderful school year so far. Our teacher Jennifer has done a fabulous job maintaining a safe, consistent and exciting classroom. The children have learned the routines, enjoyed new friendships and become responsible independent learners.

During gym time children have played cooperative, imaginative and skill building games. During circle time Jennifer has taught the children many songs, introduced letter of the week, days of the week, weather and so much more.

Messy art, pinning, sewing and mapping have been very popular during work time.

We continue to build on our letter sounds, sight words, leveled readers and number concepts.

Current News

To assist Jennifer in the classroom I will be covering Science and French each week (Mondays and Thursdays).

Thanks again for all the donations that made the festival of trees a huge success. We won for the 3rd year in a row and I am already preparing for next year.

Open House for new and current families

January 27th 11am – 2pm Registration for new students for September and for current families feel free to come in and spend time with your child in the classroom. Please return re-enrollment forms ASAP.

Sadly this year was our first year with no kindergarteners. I suspect that had to do with the public schools offering full days. I did have one enrolled, however, I require a minimum of 2. Please google the importance of the Montessori kindergarten year for more info or drop me an e-mail to find out more.

Dance update – We are working on scheduling Niki from Move This! Dance studio to provide “Brain Dance” for our program. As soon as times are confirmed we will let you know.
